After searching wordpress for interior design based blogs, I came across a cool blog called The Blossom Tree, with a great post that caught my eye, ‘Stair Porn’. I have to agree with it, I to am a fan of the beautiful spiral staircases and I love the theatrical and visual impact they can have in a space.

Here are a few examples below.

Recycling At Its Best May 20, 2009

After surfing WebUrbanist this morning, I found some amazing architectural images. As far as I’m aware these are nothing new to the web however I still wanted to blog about them. I picked out two designs that caught my eye:

1: Trailer Park Paradise

These images have circulated the Internet for a while name and the design has since been dubbed the ‘Redneck Mansion’. On first sight I didn’t think that this could be real and infact  it partly isn’t. It is in fact an intricate and detailed theatre set for a show called Ivanov in Amsterdam; the initial confusion was caused when only a partial set of photos were widely distributed, not including a vital shot of the audience seats! A mistake easily made with this incorrect information.

However I agree with WebUrbanist when they say that the revelation of this no way detracts from the elaborate sets beauty and ingenuity.

2: Bottled Brilliance

It is amazing what some people see an an opportunity. I personally would look at a bottle and agree that it could form a piece of art, however probably wouldn’t go as far as seeing this humble and domestic object as a raw building material. Imagination was plentiful however amongst rural monks hundreds of miles outside of Bangkok, when they created a beautiful temple using this plentiful substance.

The local people helped the monks gather over a million glass bottles which they then put to good use in creating the walls and the roof, the floor and even mosaics within the monastery, ensuring that the building not only became an glittering place for religion, but also an amazing piece of architectural recycling.

It’s Funny How Things Pan Out… May 20, 2009

In my old job I found myself becoming a social media addict, always on twitter and regularly updating an old blog I had, however now things have changed and since leaving suddenly I have found myself in a very weird place. So time to start again, new blog, more personal and about thing I enjoy and find amusing. This could be anything from an amazing new gadget, a review of a film, an opinion on whose dating who in celeb land, or just a general rant about things.

So before I start here is a little bit about me. I am 21, born and bred in the idylic countryside of Berkshire. I have recently lost my job at a well known technology PR company in London and I am currently working on a temporary basis before I set sail and travel the world next year. When I start this year I had no idea that this is how things would pan out but I’m very grateful that I get this chance to go off travelling. It is something that I have been desperate to achieve for a long time now and I can’t believe its finally going to happen. Our trip starts in January and we hope to go to, New Zealand,  Australia (West coast), Malaysia, Thailand,  Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, China and Japan. There will undoubtedly be many posts about this and I look forward to any tips, hints or ideas that you can give me!

I’m also a very keen photographer and general lover of new and innovative designs and concepts. I think I am still trying to find myself slightly, however who really knows who they are at such a young age. You never know what life throws at you, so as many people have said to me, I’ll take the good with the bad and try and savour every moment.
